My Aussie Story: Dave

Dave’s Story

Here at Aussie we take great pride in providing our assignees and clients with a stress-free and seamless arrival into Australia. We just love hearing when they are settled and enjoying their new lives here.

Recently we reached out to those who have chosen Australia and Perth as their home. We asked them to share their experience and what advice they would give to those looking to make the move to Australia.

Our first ‘My Aussie Story’ comes from a UK arrival, coming to sunny Australia from slightly wet and gloomy England. This is the story of Dave Hillard and his move to Australia,

Meet Dave

Dave’s first experience of Australia was in 1998 when he spent 12 months backpacking around our beautiful country. He instantly fell in love with the country and it’s warm and welcoming people. He was pleasantly surprised by the vastness of the country and also how diverse the country is, from the never-ending tropics in the North to the picturesque and heart-pumping ski fields that litter the mountain ranges in the South and everything else in between. He absolutely loved it here.

After this fantastic and life-changing experience Dave knew where he would end up and emigrated to Australia just four years later in July 2003.

Dave and his wife enjoy the beautiful Rottnest Island on a typical hot Perth Day where they meet the famous Quokka.

Where is Dave now?

Dave is an experienced Operations Manager with a demonstrated history of working within the LNG & energy industry. He currently enjoys his role as Operations Manager at Programmed Skilled Workforce where he specialises in managing GTO for oil and gas major contracts.

Dave’s Advice

We asked Dave ‘What would you tell anyone considering moving to Australia?’ and his first response was “do it!”, this seems to be a regular response from those who have taken the leap and are enjoying their life and lifestyle here in Australia.

He also mentions that while some may be worried about leaving and missing their loved ones back home, you need not be worried, as they may be friends quickly and easily. There is a great deal of migrants from all over the world who are in the same boat and are looking to make lifelong friendships and connect with the new arrivals. Dave and his family haven’t even had to make the long haul back home very often either, only having been back twice since 2003, this is because his family and friends just love coming over to Australia to visit them and enjoy all the beauty (and warmth) that is on offer.

Thank you Dave for taking the time to share your story with us, we are so glad that that the spark that was ignited long ago in 1998 has continued and your love of both Australia is as strong as ever. We wish you and your family continued success and enjoyment.
